franz ensemble

When young, internationally acclaimed musicians come together...

When these musicians entwine all their different roots in one collective...

When their love of music is boundless, passionate, honest and unconditional...

When their respect for one another and for the composer can be sensed in every note...

When shared music-making brings nothing but enrichment...

When the shared vision is a matter of course...

... then there is franz.

We are the franz ensemble. ARD Music Competition award winners, professors, artistic directors of celebrated festivals, successful soloists and chamber musicians: whatever and whoever we are, we inspire, enrich and complement one another. It is our goal to com- mand the extensive repertoire of unfamiliar and expanded formations. As an ensemble uniting wind players, strings and pianists, we look forward to deploying the huge variety of scorings that the ensemble can offer in order to give a fresh new voice both to the core repertoire and to hidden treasures of the music literature.

What do we mean by fresh and new? Calling conventions into question, relaxing rules and being exible. Welcoming extremes. Being empowered to make music freed from external preconditions and inner pressures.

franz ensemble – a new way to make music.
